IS 398 : PART 2 : 1996 | HIGH-VOLTAGE OVERHEAD TRANSMISSION
PRODUCT OVERVIEW

What are Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced ?

ACSR (Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced) are stranded conductor consisting of aluminium strands surrounding a steel core, offering high tensile strength, good conductivity, and excellent durability for overhead transmission lines.

ACSR conductors are composed of high-conductivity aluminium strands reinforced with a galvanized steel core, providing an ideal combination of electrical performance, mechanical strength, and long-span capability. Manufactured in accordance with IS 398 (Part 2), these conductors are widely used in overhead transmission and distribution systems where higher strength and reduced sag are required.

At Mahavir Transmission Limited, ACSR conductors are manufactured under stringent quality control processes using advanced wire-drawing, galvanizing, and precision stranding technologies. This ensures consistent conductor quality, accurate dimensional properties, and dependable long-term performance under demanding operating conditions.

With their excellent strength-to-weight ratio, ACSR conductors are particularly suitable for long transmission spans, river crossings, hilly terrains, and areas exposed to heavy wind and mechanical loading.

Standard Compliance:Manufactured as per IS 398: Part 2: 1996 – the foremost Indian Standard for Aluminium Conductors, Galvanized Steel Reinforced, used in overhead transmission systems.
