PRODUCT OVERVIEW

What are AAC Conductors?

All Aluminium Conductor (AAC) are concentric-lay-stranded overhead conductors manufactured from high-purity electrolytic grade aluminium — optimised for overhead power transmission and distribution.

AAC conductors consist entirely of aluminium strands, offering excellent electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance, and light weight. The conductors are manufactured from EC-grade aluminium (99.7% minimum purity) conforming to IS 398: Part 1: 1996, making them ideal for overhead lines in urban and suburban environments where span lengths are moderate and corrosion is a primary concern.

At Mahavir Transmission Limited, every AAC conductor is produced under strict quality controls using precision wire-drawing and stranding technology. Our conductors are designed to deliver consistent electrical performance, dimensional accuracy, and long service life even under demanding environmental conditions.

The superior conductivity-to-weight ratio of AAC makes it the preferred choice for urban distribution networks, coastal regions, and electrification projects under Central and State Government programs.

Standard Compliance:Manufactured as per IS 398: Part 1: 1996 – the foremost Indian Standard for All Aluminium Conductors used in overhead transmission system.

EC Grade Aluminium

Minimum 99.7% pure electrolytic grade aluminium ensures superior electrical conductivity and excellent corrosion resistance.

Concentric-Lay Stranded

Multiple strands laid in concentric layers provide enhanced mechanical flexibility, ease of handling, and reliable long-term performance.

Weather & Corrosion Resistant

Inherent aluminium oxide layer provides natural protection against atmospheric and corrosion making it suitable for coastal areas.

Lightweight Design

Low self-weight reduces structural loading on towers and poles, enabling longer spans and lower civil infrastructure costs.

Why AAC?

Key Technical Features

Engineered for performance, reliability, and long-term value in overhead transmission and distribution infrastructure.

High Electrical Conductivity

EC-grade aluminium achieves a minimum of 61% IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard) conductivity, ensuring low resistive losses and efficient power transfer across distribution networks.

Low Self-Weight

Approximately one-third the weight of copper – significantly reduces tower and pole loading, lowers structural costs, and simplifies installation.

Excellent Corrosion Resistance

Natural aluminium oxide film offers inherent protection against environmental degradation, making AAC an ideal choice for coastal and high-humidity regions.

Flexible & Easy to Handle

Stranded construction provides high flexibility for easy installation, tensioning, jointing, and termination, reducing labour time on site.

Fully Recyclable

100% recyclable aluminium material supports sustainable infrastructure development and reduces lifecycle carbon footprint significantly.

Low Maintenance

Durable construction with no galvanic corrosion concerns between strands, minimizing inspection frequency and maintenance cost over the service life.

Wide Range of Sizes

Available from 10 mm² to 1000 mm² nominal area, covering LV, MV and HV distribution requirements across all project scales.

Wide Temperature Range

Rated for continuous operation at upto 75°C (conductor temperature), suitable for high-ambient tropical conditions prevalent across India.

END-USE MARKETS

Applications of AAC Conductors

AAC conductors from Mahavir Transmission are trusted across the full spectrum of power delivery infrastructure in India and beyond.

Urban Distribution Networks

Ideal for urban and semi-urban overhead distribution networks operating at 11 kV, 33 kV, and 66 kV, where moderate span lengths, high electrical conductivity, and excellent corrosion resistance are essential.

Coastal & High Humidity Zones

Superior resistance to salt-laden atmospheric corrosion makes AAC the conductor of choice for coastal regions and humid tropical environments worldwide.

Renewable Energy Projects

Widely used in solar park transmission systems, wind farm collector networks, and renewable energy distribution projects requiring high conductivity performance.

Rural Electrification

Extensively deployed for last-mile electrification projects in rural and semi-urban areas worldwide.

Industrial & Estate Feeders

Used for overhead power supply lines in industrial estates, special economic zones, and large commercial facilities requiring reliable, low-loss power transmission.

EPC Transmission Projects

Supplied to leading EPC contractors for overhead line projects under national grid utilities, power transmission companies, and state transmission projects worldwide.
